"Lord Jesus, help us to increase our devotion towards your suffering and towards You in the Eucharist, so that we will atone for the disrespect to which You are being subjected. Those who do not believe in You do not appreciate all that you have performed for our salvation."

THE WAY OF THE CROSS MEDITATED BY GUZA MIFSUD

  • Guza recorded this Way of the Cross on February 18, 1994

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord God of Hosts, You loved man so much that You sent Your Son Jesus into the world so that by means of His sufferings, man is saved from eternal perdition and taken up to Heaven. I will now meditate on the sufferings that Jesus endured for us.

    Cross1

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. In our thoughts, let us meditate on how much Jesus suffered for us. Let us meditate on the first station when Jesus was condemned to death without deserving such a sentence. Jesus accepted with joy this news given to Him by His brethren. They gave it to Him notwithstanding all the marvellous things He performed with them. He cured their sick, He raised many people from death, He cast the devil out of some people and did many other things. However, Jesus was still condemned to death. For this, we should thank Jesus. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross2

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Right now, in my thoughts I am walking together with Jesus along the roads of Calvary. Let us meditate on the second station when Jesus was presented with the cross on which His life was to end. Jesus accepted the wooden cross with joy and we should likewise accept with joy, with humility and patience all the crosses that the Lord gives us on earth; be they illnesses or something else that displeases our heart. We should accept just as Christ who was thinking about all that He had to endure, did. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross3

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the third station. Jesus, You suffered so much in order to redeem our souls. Thank You, Jesus. Let us think about when You began to walk along the roads of Calvary and You fell for the first time under the wooden cross You were carrying upon You. Jesus help us so that while we are on earth we will not commit any sin, both venial and still more mortal. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross4

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the fourth station. Jesus was ascending the road of Calvary, dragging the wooden cross on His shoulders, and there He met the Lady of Life, Our Lady, His Mother and ours. When their eyes met, their heart broke and they could not speak. Nevertheless, both the Lord Jesus and the beloved Virgin Mary communicated with their thoughts. The Blessed Virgin was suffering in her heart all the anguish of Jesus. It was very sorrowful for our beloved Mother Mary when the cruel Jews separated her from her Son. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross5

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the fifth station when Jesus was walking along the road of Calvary and the soldiers called Simon to carry the cross in order to relieve Jesus. The soldiers did not do this because they pitied Jesus but because they feared that Jesus would not make it because of all His sufferings. Perhaps Simon was not pleased that he had to carry the cross of redemption, but he did carry it and Jesus repaid him through his two sons. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross6

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the sixth station when Jesus met that holy woman, Veronica. She pitied Him to such an extent that she approached Him to wipe His holy face. Jesus repaid her by leaving the image of His face imprinted on the holy veil. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross7

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the seventh station. While Jesus was on His way, He was thinking about the sufferings that the Lord God presented to Him in order to save humanity. Jesus undertook this suffering with patience, quietly and wholeheartedly. Let us thank Jesus. Let us think about when Jesus fell for the second time on His face beneath the cross. Let us ask Jesus to help us so that we would never commit any sin and to keep our heart always in God's grace. We should thank Jesus for this. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross8

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the eight station. Jesus is drawing towards the end of His life in order to redeem every person who came on earth. While Jesus was passing from the streets, some women who showed Him their grief approached him. They wept and said: 'We are so sorry about what happened to Our Lord who did so much for us Jews. We think frequently about His words and we have never thought that He would endure these things.' However, Jesus said to them: 'Cry for yourselves and for your children.' Friends, I will likewise tell you that we should cry for ourselves, for our country, Malta and Gozo, and for the whole world. We should say thank you for all that Jesus did for us along the road of Calvary. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross9

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the ninth station. However, we should not only meditate on the third fall of Jesus beneath the cross. Jesus suffered terribly beneath the burden of the cross, but we should also think about the holy and blessed supper that took place before He started His passion, during which He instituted the great sacrament of the Eucharist. During Lent, we should also think about the important day of Easter and about the Eucharist. Jesus bequeathed Himself in the Eucharist and for this, we should greatly thank Him. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross10

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Jesus is ascending the road to Calvary bearing all His suffering, carrying the wooden cross and thinking about all that He had to go through. We should think how the cruel soldiers got at Him and started to take off the holy and precious dress that was stuck to Him because of the divine wounds. Jesus felt grieved when they stripped Him but He suffered all this for us, to atone for the evil acts we effect upon ourselves; indecent clothing not just by women but even by men. That is why Jesus performed this act of humility, when they stripped Him of that holy and blessed dress from His divine body. We should be very careful not to offend Jesus by dishonesty, by evil things that transgress holy purity. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross11

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Jesus offered His life to God the Father in forgiveness of everyone's sins. We should thank the Lord for this. The soldiers told Him to lie down on the wooden cross, they asked Him for His right hand, then for His left one, for His right and left foot, and started hammering on His holy and divine hands. We should greatly thank the Lord for this enormous pain. Terrible was the suffering that Jesus suffered for me because of my sins, because of my faults. We should greatly think about the holy goodness of Jesus who suffered so much for us. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross12

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the twelfth station when Jesus was raised on the cross, in mid-air. On the cross Jesus was in agony for me, for you and for everyone, for those who died so far and those who still have to die. My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, my beloved representatives of states, let us think about the great sufferings which our dear Jesus suffered for us along the road of Calvary and on the cross. Thank You Jesus. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross13

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the thirteenth station. Jesus suffered terribly but the Blessed Virgin suffered greatly as well. Let us think about how those cruel soldiers took His hands and His feet off the cross and threw Him in the arms of that sorrowful heart likewise nailed to the cross, of the beloved Virgin Mary. Holy Mother, you suffered in step with the sufferings endured by Christ along the roads of Calvary. Blessed Mother, you acted with so much love and kindness towards Him when He was growing up and now you received Him dead in your embrace. We have so much for which to thank you. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

    Cross14

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy cross and by Your death You have redeemed the world. Let us meditate on the fourteenth station when the holy and divine body of Jesus who had suffered so much along the road of Calvary was placed in a tomb. They took Him from His Mother's arms to bury Him in a new tomb. We should thank the Lord for this and we should show great respect towards the Blessed Virgin for all that she has performed with us. She brought Jesus forth into the world, He suffered along the road of Calvary, and they took Him from her arms and buried Him in a tomb. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

Five Our Fathers, five Hail Marys and five Glory be in honour of the five wounds of Jesus.
